My retail story. Four fabulous decades in the stationery and gift industry.

I was part of the team that opened the flagship Habitat store under Terence Conran, and also worked for George Davies at Next in the Interiors and Jewellery Divisions before spending thirteen years at WHSmith helping to establish it's market position as the 'go-to' stationery provider. I managed the own brand product & packaging development team before working as a Buyer in all areas of stationery including office, educational and social stationery, as well as pens, diaries, and gifts.

In 2003, I joined the National Trust, buying stationery, gifts and cards for the Gift Shops and simultaneously set up my own Independent Retail Advice consultancy. 

My length and breadth of experience means I am closely affiliated with The Greeting Card Association, ACE, the BOSS Federation and am Deputy Chairman of The Giftware Association (having spent the last two years as Chair). I regularly present at, chair and judge on the panels of high profile industry events, as well as contributing articles to a range of industry magazines. I am also a Freeman of The Stationers’ Company.

Today I work with small start ups to multi site retailers, national and international manufacturers and suppliers. My extensive knowledge of the stationery, gift, card and souvenir industries, means I can hit the ground running to deliver immediate results. I am keen to share my experience and expertise to help your business become or continue to be successful.
